Manfredo Zimmermann

Manfredo Zimmermann (* 1952 in Buenos Aires ) is a recorder, traverse flutist and university professor.

biography

After graduating from high school, Manfredo Zimmermann first began studying engineering in Argentina and Austria. In 1974 he moved to the Graz University of Music and in 1976 he passed the concert exam in recorder “with distinction”. He supplemented his education with further studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis . He attended advanced courses with Barthold Kuijken and Nicolaus Harnoncourt, among others .

From 1987 until his retirement he taught as professor recorder, transverse flute, chamber music and early music performance at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and at the Wuppertal site. In addition, he was a lecturer at the Bundesakademie Trossingen from 2002 to 2011 and from 2010 to 2018 he had an additional teaching position at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf.

Zimmermann is the author and co-author of various educational works, such as the recorder stories in collaboration with Brigitte Meier-Sprinz . In 2019 his book "The Ornamentation of Music in the Baroque" was published.
