Alessandro De Marchi (conductor)

Alessandro De Marchi (* 1962 in Rome ) is an Italian conductor and harpsichordist who is best known for his interpretations of baroque music . From 1998 to 2018 he was director of the Academia Montis Regalis ( Mondovì ) orchestra and since 2010 artistic director of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music .

Life

De Marchi studied organ and composition at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome and harpsichord, chamber music and baroque performance practice at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel. He then worked as a tutor with conducting duties at the State Opera Unter den Linden (Berlin) and as an assistant at the Salzburg Festival . He speaks fluent German.

De Marchi has made guest appearances at the Semperoper (Dresden), the Opéra National de Lyon , the La Scala in Milan , the Théâtre de la Monnaie (Brussels), the Teatro San Carlo (Naples), the Oslo Opera House , the Teatro Regio (Turin), the theater at the Vienna (Vienna), at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Florence), the Hamburg State Opera and at the Teatro La Fenice (Venice). As a guest he has conducted the Orchester National de France (Paris), the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Rome), the Wiener Symphoniker , the NDR Radiophilharmonie and the Radio Kamer Filharmonie in Amsterdam.
