Andreas Staier

Andreas Staier (born September 13, 1955 in Göttingen ) is a German harpsichordist and pianist .

Life

Staier studied piano (with Kurt Bauer and Erika Haase ) and harpsichord (with Lajos Rovatkay ) at the Hanover University of Music and in Amsterdam. From 1983 to 1986 he was a harpsichordist with the Musica Antiqua Cologne ensemble . Since 1986 he has also performed as a soloist on the fortepiano , but also as a song accompanist and together with the Ensemble Les Adieux. From 1987 to 1996 he lectured harpsichord at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis .

As a soloist, he regularly gives concerts with Concerto Köln , the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra , the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music and the Orchester des Champs-Élysées Paris. Staier is one of the outstanding fortepiano experts of the current generation.

Andreas Staier has made numerous recordings, many of which have been awarded international prizes. His career was recognized in 2002 with the honorary certificate of the German Record Critics' Award. In 2008 he was awarded the Praetorius Music Prize by the State of Lower Saxony .
