Erika Haase

Erika Haase (born March 23, 1935 in Darmstadt ; † May 1, 2013 in Darmstadt) was a German pianist .

Life

Erika Haase was born in 1935 as the daughter of the violinist Max Erich Haase. She received her first piano lessons at the age of seven. In Darmstadt she studied with Werner Hoppstock and Hans Leygraf . In 1959 she was awarded the Kranichstein Music Prize (piano). She also appeared as a soloist and chamber musician at the Swedish Radio Academy of Music; she has performed with various Swedish orchestras. Her focus was on new music . In 1960 she took part in a summer course with Eduard Steuermann . It was further influenced by Conrad Hansen . From 1963 she spent a long time in London and Paris. There she worked a. a. with the BBC and Pierre Boulez .

From 1967 to 2000 she was a lecturer (from 1974 professor for piano) at the Hanover University of Music and Theater . Her students included u. a. Gerrit Zitterbart , Andreas Staier and Ingo Metzmacher . She had a close friendship with György Ligeti .
