Bernhard Wambach

Bernhard Wambach (* 1948 in Neuwied ) is a German pianist.

Wambach studied with Konrad Meister in Bremen and Peter-Jürgen Hofer in Hamburg. From 1973 to 1977 he attended courses with Friedrich Gulda . In 1978, 1980 and 1982 he took part in the Darmstadt summer courses . In 1979 he was awarded at the International Arnold Schönberg Competition in Rotterdam. In 1982 he was the winner of the Kranichstein Music Prize for piano. He has made guest appearances at numerous festivals for new music and has worked with important conductors and composers.

He taught in Bremen, Lübeck and Darmstadt. In 1989 Wambach became professor for piano at the Folkwang University of the Arts (Duisburg department). From 2000 he was vice dean, from 2002 to 2004 dean of the music department. From 1995 to 2006 he was the supervisor of the Haniel Academy Concerts in Duisburg.
