Regula Rapp

Regula Rapp (* 1961 in Konstanz ) is a German musicologist , opera dramaturge and university rector. She has been the rector of the State University for Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart since 2012 .

Career

From 1980 Regula Rapp studied historical keyboard instruments (major in harpsichord ) at the Berlin University of the Arts (today Berlin University of the Arts) as well as musicology , philosophy and art history at the Technical University of Berlin . She received her doctorate in 1990 with a thesis on the concertos for keyboard instrument and strings by Johann Gottfried Müthel (Berlin Musicological Works No. 40, edited by Rudolf Stephan).

Scholarship and fellowships

Positions and offices

From 1992 to 1998, Regula Rapp was initially a research assistant and then deputy director of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis , the University of Early Music in Basel. From 1999 to 2005 Regula Rapp held the post of chief dramaturge at the Staatsoper unter den Linden Berlin (general music director Daniel Barenboim , artistic director Georg Quander , from 2002 Peter Mussbach ). At the State Opera she rebuilt the dramaturgy department and set up music theater education . In this position she was responsible for the pre-classical repertoire, for which René Jacobs was responsible. In 2015 she was elected rector of the Music University Vienna , but did not take up this office. In 2019 she was re-elected as rector in Stuttgart, Regula Rapp's second term began on April 1, 2020.
