Eva Briegel (* 3. December 1978 in Leonberg ) is a German musician and singer originally from casting coming band in July .

Life

Eva Briegel's family initially lived in Böblingen and moved to Langgöns in Central Hesse in 1982 . From 1985 Briegel attended the local elementary school, from 1989 the Anne Frank School in Linden . After a year in upper secondary school at the Liebigschule Gießen, she finally graduated from the comprehensive school in Gießen-Ost in 1998 .

During the last years of her school days she sang in various bands and projects and was interested in a musical career, but first studied one semester in Heidelberg , then she spent thirteen semesters in various subjects (art history, classical archeology, pedagogy, psychology, German studies , psychosocial medicine) at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . On the side she sold PCs and worked in a bar. In 2004 she dropped out of studies without a degree.

Eva Briegel (2006)

Through Goodwell Music , she joined the band Sunnyglade in 2000 , which was looking for a replacement for their previous singer, Miriam Adameit. Eva Briegel accepted and became the new front woman of the band, which renamed itself in July 2001. The first single Perfect Wave and the album It's July were successful. In October 2006 the second album A New Day was released .

Eva Briegel is with guitarist Andy Penn of the pop band MIA. in a relationship. Their first child, daughter Yoko, was born in the spring of 2010. Penn also appeared as a guest musician on July's third album In Love , which was released in September 2010.

  • She contributed her voice to the song Half a Step for the album This Very Moment by the Hessian dance project Hacienda, which was released in the summer of 2004 (which later published a few remixes of July titles) .
  • In December 2006, the committed vegetarian advertised a vegetarianism campaign by the animal rights organization PETA by having her picture shown in a top made of savoy cabbage for an advertisement.
  • Eva Briegel supports an environmental protection campaign according to which trees are planted in Panama to compensate for the CO 2 emissions caused by concerts and tours .
  • In 2008, she starred in the music video Sad Girl by Sven van Thom .
  • In 2009 she recorded the female voice for the song Flöz & Pökel by the punk band Boxhamsters, also from Gießen . The collaboration was arranged by the producer of both bands, Olaf Opal , who initially won Briegel for the project without the Boxhamsters' knowledge.
  • Eva Briegel was part of the German jury of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf .
