In Love is the third studio album by the German-speaking pop band Juli from Giessen , which they released in September 2010 after a break of almost four years.

History of origin

The last touring concerts for the album Ein neue Tag took place at the end of 2007. As a result, the band withdrew almost completely for several years and only appeared in public with a few smaller projects - including their collaboration with Rhythms del Mundo - Cubano Alemán .

In the first working phase, which lasted about one and a half years, the band members did not meet together to develop new songs, but instead each uploaded text and music suggestions to a special band server so that the other band members could continue working on them. As with the earlier July albums, the recordings in the studio were overseen by music producer Olaf Opal . The second producer was Tobias Siebert (singer from Klez.e ). The recordings lasted from October 2008 to July 2010 and took place in Olaf Opal's recording studio in Bochum and in Tobias Siebert's studio in Berlin .

The single Electric Feeling was played on the radio from July 2010 and released on August 27, 2010.

reception

At Laut.de , Artur Schulz called the album a “ripe achievement”: It doesn't matter which card you pull out of the “song fan”, it is always the “ace of hearts”. Schulz particularly praised the “realignment” of the band with samples , scratches and occasionally used synthesizers . He awarded four out of five stars. At t-online.de, Judith Wiemers wrote, on the other hand, that July “wanted too much”: “Except for the hit single Electric Feeling , in which the shift towards electronics is manifested and the one with a clear MIA. -References can at least count as a euphoric indie dance number, In Love remains anxious and bland for a long time. ”Among other things,“ absurd lines of text ”were criticized.
