Music video

The official music video for Regen und Meer was produced by filmlounge GmbH under the direction of Bernd Possardt and Jeffrey Lisk and with cameraman Felix Storp. In addition to the band members, the actor Oliver Korittke plays a leading role. The video plays - as evidenced by the timestamp of a surveillance camera and superimposed newspaper clippings - in September 1977 in Berlin: The band members represent a terrorist organization, the "July 1st", from which Korittke is kidnapped. In the course of his several weeks imprisonment, Eva Briegel , as the only female member of the terrorist cell, and the kidnapping victim began to develop a tender love story, so that the kidnappers finally had to fight. In the end, their hiding place, an inconspicuous family house, is stormed by security forces and Korittke is freed. Before Eva Briegel and the other band members are taken away in the prisoner transport car, she and Korittke take one last look.

The deliberate content and visual similarity of the video to the German Autumn brought the video attention and some criticism. The picture called the video a "terror video" , which was also taken up critically by the picture blog . The band Juli stated in a statement:

“The video for 'Regen und Meer' was shot in the form of a short film and rather serves to illustrate the lyrics, an impossible love using the example of Stockholm Syndrome . In this respect, the video is about a kidnapping story and the relationship between the kidnapper and the kidnapped person, but not about the Schleyer kidnapping . The story portrayed in our video - like every previous evening thriller - does not end well for the kidnappers, they are arrested and the hostage released safely. "
