Boxhamsters is a punk band from Giessen, founded in 1987 .

The name of the band goes back to the Upperclass Twit of the Year sketch from the film Monty Python's Wonderful World of Gravity , in which a Mr. Boxhamster wins the competition (in German translation) idiot of fine society . The Boxhamsters sing in German. Her musical role models include US bands like Hüsker Dü and Sonic Youth as well as English groups like Buzzcocks and The Who . In some of the songs they use samples from the German dubbed versions of various films, such as Der große Diktator , Das Boot , Star Wars , Jim Knopf and ¡Drei Amigos! . The album Saugschmerle from 2000 was rated 12 out of 12 points by the music magazine Visions .

Boxhamster singer Co and EA80 singer Junge run the fun project Die Böse Hand , of which there are several singles with mostly cover versions , as well as a CD with all previous releases. The Boxhamsters' drummer, Ulf Jachimsky, has also been playing for Nagasaki Frontal since 2009.
