Car of the year

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A year-old car is a used motor vehicle, usually a car that was first registered less than 12 months ago. If there are more than 12 months between manufacture and initial registration of the car, it cannot be sold as an annual car. Both the initial registration and the time of manufacture are therefore decisive for the designation as an annual car.

Many offers for annual cars come from employees, because almost all manufacturers have employees, often also former employees (early retirees and retirees), the opportunity to purchase a car from the current product series every 12 months at considerable discounts . However, it can also be a question of former company vehicles that were acquired by employees.

For buyers, annual vehicles are a way of keeping the car's depreciation within limits. It is possible to purchase a car that is almost as good as new without paying the full purchase price.

Annual vehicles within the meaning of the directive on the promotion of the sale of passenger cars of January 27, 2009 with regard to the environmental bonus are vehicles that are counted back from the date of registration to the applicant for a maximum of one year for a vehicle manufacturer, its sales organizations or its employees , a car dealer, a proprietary car bank, a car rental company or an automobile leasing company.
