Visions (own spelling VISIONS ) is a monthly German music magazine published by Visions Verlag in Dortmund , which was considered the leading alternative rock in the 1990s .
history
The magazine was founded in 1989 by Daniel Oeding as a fanzine with a printed edition of 300 copies. In addition to Intro , Visions is one of the few music magazines that emerged at the time with a focus on alternative or independent music, which survived the intermittent boom of corresponding magazines such as Indiecator or Sub Line in the early 1990s. According to the information provided by the Information Association for Determining the Distribution of Advertising Media (IVW), the number of copies sold is around 30,000 today.
Between September and November 2005, on the occasion of its 150th issue, the magazine published a list of the 150 records chosen by its readers.
In addition to regular concerts and festivals, the magazine has been organizing a series of parties called "VISIONS Partys" for several years, which initially only took place in Dortmund, was gradually expanded to several cities and has been taking place nationwide and in Switzerland since the beginning of 2007.
Also in Visions publishing the cultural magazine published Public and the annual Music Festival Overview Festival Planner . The interview magazine Galore , launched by the publisher , appeared between 2003 and 2009, continued to exist for a short time as a free website and was finally discontinued. The Internet magazine Netspotting , which was planned as a spin- off , was discontinued after a few issues and reintegrated in Visions in a much slimmed-down form.
Issue and editorial office
The musical focus of the Visions is on alternative rock or indie rock , but numerous musicians from other areas such as metal , punk , hardcore , singer-songwriter , post-rock , Britpop or noise are also presented.
In addition to reviews of sound carriers, the magazine contains interviews and reports. The printed edition is usually accompanied by an audio CD with selected current titles. The DVD supplement series Visions On Screen , which contained current and classic video clips and editorial contributions, has since been discontinued.
The editorial office of the magazine published by Michael Lohrmann is Dortmund. The current editor-in-chief is Dennis Plauk; by his side are Martin Burger, Dennis Drögemüller, Gerrit Köppl, Florian Schneider and Jan Schwarzkamp.
