Songs for the Deaf is the third studio album by the California rock band Queens of the Stone Age . It was recorded between March and June 2002 in various studios in California and was released in August 2002.
Concept album
Songs for the Deaf is a concept album that takes the listener on a trip from Los Angeles to the Mojave Desert . For example, between the tracks you can hear clips from local radio stations that are on this route. The concept is also reflected in the artwork; in the unfolded booklet of the cover there is a picture of the interior of a car.
Reviews
The album received high praise from music critics and was also quite successful commercially.
For example, laut.de gave full points with five out of five and stated: "A masterpiece of modern adrenaline rock." Also Plattentests.de gave the album ten out of ten full points. Allmusic gave another positive review with five out of five points.
Furthermore, Songs for the Deaf achieved second place behind Nevermind from Nirvana in a reader survey by the German magazine Visions , in which the 150 albums were searched for for eternity .
