Alain Johannes Moschulski (born May 2, 1962 in Santiago de Chile ) is an American rock musician and music producer .

Career

As a teenager, Johannes founded the band Anthym with Hillel Slovak , Jack Irons and Todd Strassman , which later became part of What Is This? was renamed. The band broke up in the mid-80s after Slovak and Irons joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers . At the end of the 1980s Johannes met his future partner and bandmate Natasha Shneider and together with her they published their first joint work in 1987 called Walk the Moon . In 1990 Johannes, Shneider and Irons founded the band Eleven , which was to become one of Johannes more extensive and long-term projects and was only dissolved in 2008 after Shneider's death. In the middle of the 90s Johannes began to work on projects of musicians he was friends with, including Chris Cornell and UNKLE . In 2000 Johannes took part in the second album of the band Queens of the Stone Age and thus had many contacts with Josh Homme and his bandmates and was then involved in almost all of Homme's side projects. Johannes took part in Desert Sessions 7 & 8, as well as 9 & 10, had guest appearances on Queens of the Stone Age's albums Songs for the Deaf and Lullabies to Paralyze and played guitar and bass on the following tour from 2005 to 2006 . Johannes also worked as a musician and producer in Homme's side projects Eagles of Death Metal and Them Crooked Vultures before going on tour with the latter from 2009 to 2010. Johannes can also be heard on various Mark Lanegan's albums. His last works include the band Spinnerette , as well as his solo album Spark , released in 2010 , which he dedicated to his partner Natasha Shneider, who died in 2008, and recorded it entirely by himself.
