Spinnerette is a 2007 founded, American alternative rock band around the former Distillers - frontwoman Brody Dalle .
Band history
Due to the pregnancy of the front woman Brody Dalle, the Distillers had been on hiatus since 2005. Meanwhile, Dalle wrote numerous new songs that stylistically did not fit the band's previous sound. In February 2007 the band split up. A month later she founded the new band Spinnerette together with the Distillers guitarist Tony Bevilacqua , Jack Irons ( Red Hot Chili Peppers , Pearl Jam ) and Alain Johannes ( Queens of the Stone Age , Eagles of Death Metal ). According to Dalles, this is not about a band, but about them and musicians with whom they are currently planning to work. This also explains the different line-up for live performances and studio recordings.
In the summer of 2007 they released their first demo song, “Case of the Swirls”, on their band website. The band initially signed with Sire Records , but broke the contract before the first release and switched to Anthem Records . In August they published the song "Valium Knights" on their band website and from October 2008 they gave their first live performances. In December 2008 the “Ghetto Love EP” was released for the first time. It contains four songs as well as a video produced by Liam Lynch for the song "Ghetto Love".
Her self-titled debut album “Spinnerette” was released in June 2009, from which the singles “Sex Bomb” and “Baptized by Fire” also come.
