Puscifer is a musical project by Maynard James Keenan , best known as a member of the rock bands Tool and A Perfect Circle . Stylistically, the band moves in the field of downbeat and experimental electronic music .

The first published songs were REV 22:20 ( heard in soundtracks for Saw II and Underworld ) and The Undertaker (soundtrack Underworld: Evolution ). The project's website was opened on October 13, 2006 and contains an online shop and audio samples of various songs by or with Keenan. Here you can get items ranging from clothing and everyday items in the puscifer look to more unusual things, such as: B. (Original quote from Keenan) “adult massage devices”.

The name "Puscifer" comes from the fact that Maynard James Keenan is a member of an imaginary band of the same name in the first episode of the American comedy series Mr. Show . He himself asserts that he has absolutely no idea what the name should really mean.

Even Danny Lohner ( Nine Inch Nails ), Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk ( Rage Against the Machine ) had an active role in Puscifer where they contributed instrumental music and singing.

The band's first album, V Is for Vagina , which was produced by Joey Jordison ( Slipknot , Murderdolls ), was released on October 26, 2007. The first single, Queen B , was released on August 9, 2007 and the video in September. The EP Don't Shoot the Messenger followed on October 9, 2007.

In May 2008 the remix album V Is for Viagra was released. The Remixes . It contains ten remixes from the first album and two from the single album Cuntry Boner .

In the film Underworld - Uprising of the Lycans they are represented with the song Lighten Up Francis (JLE Dub Mix) .

In November 2009, Keenan released the music video The Mission with Milla Jovovich . Jovovich sings along himself. At the same time he released the EP C Is For (Please Insert Sophomoric Genitalia Reference Here) in October of the same year .

In October 2011 the album Conditions of my Parole was released . Guest musicians on the album include Juliette Commagere , Jeff Friedl , Matt McJunkins ( Ashes Divide ) and Sarah Jones from Bat for Lashes .

On February 19, 2013 the EP Donkey Punch the Night was released with two new songs ( Breathe and Dear Brother ) and two covers: "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen and "Balls to the Wall" by Accept .

The CD "Money Shot" was released on October 30, 2015. In addition to Keenan, Carina Round (vocals) and Mat Mitchell (bass, guitar, electronic instruments) worked as co-authors. Jeff Friedl (drums), Matt McJunkins (bass), Juliette Commagere (keyboard instruments), Tim Alexander (drums), John Theodore (drums) and Keenan's son Devo Keenan were guests .

In 2016, the band first appeared in Europe at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park .
