Brad Wilk (born September 5, 1968 in Portland , Oregon ) is an American drummer of Polish and German descent. He was a member of the alternative rock band Audioslave and became known as the drummer in the crossover band Rage Against the Machine . In 2013 he recorded the album 13 with Black Sabbath .

Life

Because of his Jewish origins, Wilk's father fled from Poland to the United States during the Holocaust . Wilk spent his childhood in Chicago and later in Southern California. He started playing drums at the age of 13 and got his first own drum set when he was 14.

Since his father had to move frequently because of his work, Wilk speaks several languages. At a concert by Rage Against the Machine in Tel-Aviv z. B. he sang a song in Hebrew. He joined the band after Tom Morello heard of a newspaper advertisement from him. Wilk has been married to Selene Vigil (singer of the American punk rock band 7 Year Bitch ) since 2005 and has two children with her. He is a Buddhist .

Side projects

Wilk played with Morello, Billy Gould and Tool singer Maynard James Keenan on the Shandi's Addiction project , which produced the song Calling Dr. for the Kiss tribute sampler Kiss My Ass. Love recorded. With Tim Commerford he contributed the song Momma sed for Keenan's side project Puscifer . Wilk played the drums for the Cypress Hill song Can't get the best of me . For Snoop Dogg's album Death Row's Greatest Hits , Wilk wrote Snoop Bounce , which Dogg recorded with Rage Against The Machine (without Zack de la Rocha ). Wilk also played a supporting role in the short film Sleeping Dogs Lie in 2004 . Wilk plays the drums on the published in June 2013 album 13 by Black Sabbath . In 2013 he joined the band The Last Internationale and released the album We Will Reign and various singles with them in 2014 . In 2014 Wilk played for the first time as the drummer for the Smashing Pumpkins . Since 2016 he has been playing with Prophets of Rage and touring America.
