history
Foundation and background
In March 2016, former Rage Against the Machine musicians Tom Morello ( guitar ), Tim Commerford ( bass ) and Brad Wilk ( drums ) contacted public enemy rapper Chuck D to start a new musical project. During the discussion, the name of the Cypress Hill rapper B-Real was mentioned , who, like the public enemy DJ DJ Lord, joined the musicians. The Rage Against the Machine singer Zack de la Rocha does not belong to the new band. According to Morello, Commerford and Wilk, de la Rocha was not asked if he wanted to participate. However, they added that de la Rocha agreed with his bandmates' new project.
The two rap bands played a major role in the history of Rage Against the Machine, who played their first concert as opening act for Public Enemy and toured America with Cypress Hill in 1994. The band name comes from a public enemy song from the album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back . According to Tom Morello, the idea behind the project is that in what he describes as “critical” today, the music of the main bands “should be heard three times as loud as usual”. Morello refers to topics such as growing poverty , police violence and the presidential candidacy of the controversial businessman Donald Trump .

It was there that the Republican Party's nomination convention began , at which Donald Trump was elected as a candidate.
The EP, also called The Party's Over , was released on August 19, 2016. In addition to the songs Prophets of Rage and The Party's Over , the EP contains live recorded cover versions of the songs Killing in the Name (Rage Against the Machine), Shut 'em Down (Public Enemy) and No Sleep 'til Cleveland , an interpretation of the Beastie Boys song No Sleep' til Brooklyn . The EP was produced by Brendan O'Brien . At the same time a tour through North America began.
