Millionaire is a Belgian indie / stoner rock band.

Band history

The band was founded in 1998 by Ben Wijers (guitar), Bas Remans (bass), Dave Schroyden (drums) and Tim Vanhamel (vocals, guitar). The latter had already made a name for himself in the Belgian independent scene as a member of dEUS . In 2001 the band released their debut album Outside The Simian Flock , which is characterized above all by its stylistic versatility. Thus one finds electronically embossed Indie Rock on groove-heavy Riffrock , trashy punk to Poparrangements a mixture unterschiedlichster style imprints that eccentric mainly by Vanhamels, partly distorted electronically, vocals are held together.

As a live band, Millionaire was able to win numerous fans, especially as the opening act for bands like Muse and the Queens of the Stone Age . These include Josh Homme , of Queens of the Stone Age, which it did not take her second album Paradisiac record in California's Joshua Tree and produce.

You can tell this from the album's very "dry" sound. The songs themselves also have significantly more stoner rock elements, which by no means pushes into the background the variety of styles and the poppy-weird compositions that already distinguished the band on Outside The Simian Flock .

The band has also contributed two songs to the soundtrack of the Belgian psycho-drama Ex Drummer . The first is a cover version of the 1977 single Mongoloid by the band Devo , the second is an original composition called deep fish .
