Villains is the seventh studio album by Queens of the Stone Age , which was released on August 25, 2017 by the American music label Matador Records . The album was announced on June 15 with a video published on YouTube and Facebook showing the band doing a lie detector test. Excerpts from the song Feet Don't Fail Me can be heard there . Recordings and publication

Some of the songs were performed publicly before the album was released. The title song Villains of Circumstance , for example, was already heard in 2014 during an acoustic concert at the Meltdown Festival and The Evil Has Landed at the first concert of 2017 - on June 22nd at the Rapids Theater in Niagara Falls , New York - at the start of the Villains World Played tour.

From January to March 2017 the songs were recorded at United Recording Studios in Los Angeles . Production was carried out by Mark Ronson , known for his productions with Amy Winehouse , Lady Gaga and others. He was supported by co-producer Mark Ranking and sound engineer Alan Moulder .

On June 12, 2017, the band started promoting the new album on their website.
