The Zaō Quasi National Park ( Japanese 蔵 王国 定 公園 , Zaō Kokutei Kōen ) is a quasi national park in Japan . Established in 1963, the park covers an area of almost 400 km² in the prefectures of Miyagi and Yamagata . The park is named after the volcanic complex Zaō (1,841 m). With the IUCN Category V, the park area is classified as a Protected Landscape / Protected Marine Area . Miyagi and Yamagata prefectures are responsible for managing the park.
