Mondo Generator is a US-based hardware / stoner rock - band to Nick Oliveri .

Band history

Initially founded as a side project to the Queens of the Stone Age , in which Nick Oliveri acted as bassist and singer from 1998 to 2004, the band developed into his main musical project after Oliveris was kicked out of the Queens of the Stone Age in 2004. The band name comes from a Kyuss song from the album Blues for the Red Sun , in which Oliveri was also involved as bassist.

The debut album Cocaine Rodeo , released in 2000 but recorded in 1997, was recorded with the help of Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), who appears under the pseudonym Carlo Von Sexron , Brant Bjork ( Fu Manchu , Kyuss) and Rob Oswald . Oliveri, who works under the alias Rex Everything , takes on the entire vocal part and the songwriting. The resulting songs are heavier and more punk-heavy than with the Queens of the Stone Age.

The band then achieved cult status with their mostly unannounced and extroverted live performances, they sometimes played in disguise or, as was not unusual with Oliveri, completely naked.

With the 2003 released second album A Drug Problem That Never Existed , the initial side project for Oliveri increased in importance. This was followed by major tours in Europe and North America , where he was supported by Brant Bjork on drums, Dave Catching (Earthlings) on guitar and Molly McGuire ( Yellow # 5 ) on bass.

The band currently consists of Oliveri, Ben Perrier and Ben Thomas from the British band Winnebago Deal .
