Blues for the Red Sun is a studio album by the stoner rock band Kyuss . It is named after the fifth episode of the US television series “ Our Cosmos ”, which is called “Blues for a Red Planet”. It is one of the first and groundbreaking recordings of stoner metal, a bass-heavy, fundamentally peculiar form of heavy metal . The album is considered a stoner rock classic, as are “ Spine of God ” by Monster Magnet and “Holy Mountain” by Sleep . In 2001 it was included in the list of “50 Heaviest Albums of All Time” by Q-Magazine.
