John Garcia, 2000

John Garcia (born September 4, 1970 in San Manuel , Arizona ) is an American rock singer , who became famous mainly through Kyuss and achieved cult status with this band .

Born in the Arizona desert, San Manuel, raised in California, he often addresses the vastness and heat of the desert in his songs.

Career

After Kyuss broke up in 1995, he was involved in various projects - in 1997 he released "Amusing the Amazing", where he can be heard as the singer of the band Slo Burn , which however remained the only release.

Then he was on the road in 1998 with the band Unida , where an LP (Coping with the Urban Coyote - 1999) and a split LP were created. A second real LP was already in production but was never released because the industry didn't seem interested. Also in 1998 bassist Dandy Brown founded the band Hermano with Garcia , which released the first album "... Only a Suggestion" in 2002 after the material for it had been lying around for a year or two. At this point the band had actually drifted apart, but were so surprised by the positive reaction that they recorded a second album. All rehearsals and communication in advance should have taken place via the Internet, as the members live 3000 km apart. After they recorded the album, it was released in 2004 under the title "Dare I Say".

Also in 2004, John Garcia won a dance award with The Crystal Method for the song "Born Too Slow" (which is included in the soundtrack of Need for Speed: Underground ), where he did the vocal part and at the same time at the award show sang live. Other short-term projects and guest appearances were at or with Karma to Burn and 13.

At the beginning of 2010 he announced that he would go on a European tour in the summer with a set list of old Kyuss songs under the name "Garcia Plays Kyuss", although he will be the only member of the original line-up to play live. Fans can have a say in the selection of songs through their MySpace profile.

From 2011 Garcia was with his old band Kyuss under the name Kyuss Lives! on the road and also played at European festivals in the summer. The fact that Josh Homme was the only one who did not join the project and took legal action against it prevents the appearance under the old name Kyuss and Kyuss Lives! and finally led to the renaming in Vista Chino.

In July 2014, John Garcia released his self-named debut solo album.

On January 4th, 2019 the studio album "John Garcia And The Band Of Gold" was released. Chris Goss was the producer .
