Antemasque is an alternative rock band founded in 2014 by former At the Drive-In and The Mars Volta members Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala .

history

On April 4, 2014, Antemasque officially introduced itself with the release of the first song 4AM , on July 1 of the same year the band released their debut album Antemasque without prior notice via the band's Bandcamp account. The album quickly attracted a lot of attention. Visions voted it their album of the month for August. When the review came out, however, the album was no longer available online as the band - surprised by the interest - had withdrawn it in order to prepare a physical release for fall 2014. The album was finally released on CD / vinyl on November 10th. Antemasque was voted the best album of 2014 by Visions, laut.de led it to number 3 on their annual best list.

The bass on the debut album was played by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea , who left the band's studio The Boat in Silver Lake , California, to record for the album . Omar Rodríguez-López's brother Marfred Rodríguez-López took over the bass for the live tour. Former The Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch was on the drums . Travis Barker has been on the drums since autumn 2015 .
