Life

Born in France, she dealt with literature from an early age, reading and interpreting pieces and texts in front of the class at school. She persuaded her stepfather to study acting in Paris and in 1926, at the age of 18, won first place in a talent competition.

She played roles in the Comédie-Française for three years and met her future husband, George Morineau, on one of her theater tours in Belgium. Because of a chronic condition, doctors recommended a life in a country with a tropical climate, so they moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1931.

She also played theater in Brazil and also took roles in cinema and later on television and in a short time became a big star on stage and on screen. She was awarded the Order of the Southern Cross twice by the Brazilian government and also received honorary citizenship of Rio de Janeiro.

She had a career of 60 years. One of her last appearances in the theater was the stage adaptation of Harold and Maude in 1982, when she fell unhappy on the stage and had to be replaced by Maria Clara Machado . Henriette Morineau died in 1990 at the age of 82.
