Victor Occellier
Victor Occellier (* around 1865 in Italy ; † December 3, 1916 in Québec ) was an American-Canadian singer (baritone).
Life
Occellier studied in France and began his career as an opera singer there. With the opera company Durieu-Nicosias , which also belonged to Salvator Issaurel , he came to Canada in 1899 and performed in Montreal and Quebec and others. in the title role of Rossini's Wilhelm Tell .
After the group split up in Cuba, Occellier went to New York and made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 1900 as Valentin in Gounod's Faust . After the end of the season he went to Montreal and performed from 1900 to 1906 as an interpreter of ballads and operetta melodies at Sohmer Park .
In 1906 he said goodbye to the opera stage with an appearance as Rigoletto in Verdi's Opera am Monument national and settled in Québec as a teacher and concert singer. One of his students was Adrienne Roy-Villandré . Occelier has received five recordings for the Berlin Gramophone Company (including Ô Canada, mon pays, mes amours and L'Aquillon ) and one recording on Columbia Records .
