Michael Stephan Radziejowski , actually Augustyn Michał Stefan Radziejowski (born December 3, 1645 in Radziejowice , † October 13, 1705 in Danzig ) was Archbishop of Gniezno and Primate of Poland-Lithuania .
Life
Augustyn Michał Stefan Radziejowski was the son of Hieronim Radziejowski . Influenced by a woman Towiańska , the castellan of Łęczyca , he initially supported Conti's candidacy. Michał Stefan Radziejowski studied at the Collège d'Harcourt and the Sorbonne in Paris. In Rome he obtained a doctorate, where he was ordained a priest in 1668 .
On October 21, 1679 he was appointed Prince-Bishop of the Prussian Warmia . Pope Innocent XI. confirmed this order on September 23, 1680. The episcopal ordination donated to him on January 26, 1681 Jan Małachowski , the bishop of Kulm ; Co- consecrators were Tomasz Ujejski , auxiliary bishop in Warmia, and Stanisław Całowański , auxiliary bishop in Płock .
In the consistory of September 2, 1686 Pope Innocent XI he created. to the cardinal priest . On May 17, 1688 he was appointed Archbishop of Gniezno. The Pope awarded him the cardinal's hat and the titular church of Santa Maria della Pace on November 14, 1689. He did not take part in any of the three conclaves that took place during his cardinalate.
After the death of the Polish king Jan III. Sobieski (1696) until the election of the new king, Elector of Saxony August II. In 1697, he acted as Interrex in the elected kingdom of Poland.
He died in Danzig on October 11, 1705 around half past one in the afternoon. He had fled there after his problems with August the Strong got out of hand. He was buried in Gniezno Cathedral.
