The Diocese of Plock ( Latin Dioecesis Plocensis , Polish Diecezja Płocka ) is in Poland located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church , based in Plock .
history
The diocese of Płock was established in 1075 (information about the time before is purely legendary) and is one of the oldest Polish dioceses. When the Catholic Church in Poland was restructured in 1992 ( Apostolic Constitution Totus Tuus Poloniae Populus of March 25th), parts of its territory were given to the newly established dioceses of Łowicz and Warsaw-Praga. The previous Płock auxiliary bishop Andrzej Wojciech Suski became the new bishop of Toruń .
The Cathedral of the Assumption was consecrated in 1144 and made a minor basilica in 1910 .
Bishops
Piotr Libera, previously Auxiliary Bishop in Katowice, was appointed bishop on May 2, 2007. His enthronement took place on May 31, 2007.
Roman Marcinkowski (Titular Bishop of Bulla Regia , since 1985) continued to work in the diocese as auxiliary bishop until April 13, 2017 .
