The Archdiocese of Łódź ( Latin : Archidioecesis Lodziensis , Polish : Archidiecezja łódzka ) is an archbishopric in Poland . The Archbishop of Łódź is also metropolitan of the eponymous ecclesiastical province , to which the Diocese of Łowicz is subordinate as a suffragan .

history

The diocese was founded on December 10, 1920 and raised to an archdiocese of March 25, 1992 when the Catholic Church in Poland was restructured with the Apostolic Constitution Totus Tuus Poloniae Populus .

Since February 24, 2004, the Apostolic Constitution Spiritale incrementum raised it to the status of a metropolitan seat. The cathedral church is the Stanislaus Kostka Cathedral ( Basilica minor since 1989 ).
