On March 25, 1992, the Apostolic Administratur Lubaczów was raised to a diocese by John Paul II with the papal bull Totus Tuus Poloniae populus and renamed the Diocese of Zamość-Lubaczów and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Przemyśl as a suffragan diocese.

cathedral

The three-aisled collegiate church with its mannerist facade, slender columns and decorated vault was designed by Bernardo Morando (approx. 1540–1600). The construction of the church lasted from 1587 to 1630. Today it is the cathedral church with the patronage of the Resurrection of Christ and the Apostle Thomas . The furnishings are rich in wood carvings, in the high altar structure, a silver rococo tabernacle. The marble tomb of the Grand Chancellor and Grand Hetman of the Polish Crown , Jan Zamoyski, is located in the Zamoyski Chapel named after him .
