The Roman Catholic Diocese of Siedlce ( lat. : Dioecesis Siedlecensis , Polish. : Diecezja Siedlecka ) is in Poland located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Siedlce .
history
As the diocese of Podlachia o Janów , it was established on June 30, 1818 by Pope Pius VII . On March 30, 1819, the Pope appointed the previous auxiliary bishop in Kujawy and Pomerania , Feliks Łukasz Lewiński, as the first bishop .
By order of the Russian Tsar Alexander II , the Diocese of Podlachia o Janów was dissolved on May 22nd, 1867 and the area was attached to the Archdiocese of Lublin ; the bishop was exiled to a Capuchin monastery in Łomża .
Pope Benedict XV established the diocese, taking into account the political changes in Europe after the First World War, on November 24, 1918 again and appointed Henryk Ignacy Przeździecki bishop. On October 28, 1925, the diocese was by Pope Pius XI. renamed with the bull Pro recto et utili in the diocese of Siedlce. It is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Lublin.
