Teaching letters

A papal teaching letter is an official circular from a Pope, which is addressed to a certain group of people, e.g. B. the bishops or all believers of the Catholic Church is sometimes addressed to "all people of good will". The Pope takes a position on current theological or socially relevant issues.

A distinction is made in these instructional letters between an encyclical , an apostolic letter , a pastoral letter and written traditions, such as B. the letters of Antony .
