history

On June 16, 1903, troops of Mulley Ahmed, ( Chérif de Ouezzane ) attacked Zinat, beheaded a man in the house of Ahmed ben Mohammed el-Raisuli , took his head as a trophy , set the house on fire and stole cattle. Walter Burton Harris wanted to find out if Raisuli was dead and was captured by the men of Raisuli and held in the remains of the house of Raisuli for nine days. For the release of Harris, the supporters of Raisuli demanded the release of initially 12 tribesmen from the hands of the central government in Fez under Abd al-Aziz (Morocco) . When the tribesmen later increased demands for the release of 56, Harris had the demand forwarded to the British ambassador. According to his portrayal in Morocco as it was , he threatened that the 56 tribe members captured would be killed and burned in the event of his death, which he imagined would deprive him of the possibility of a resurrection and allegedly reduce the claim back to 12. Harris enthusiastically showed his belief in superiority over the Mohr . Harris found the Dahir (sultan's decree) in a Raissuli kitchen cupboard, with which Bou Hamara appointed Raisuli as governor of the hill tribes of north-west Morocco.

After nine days, the hostage Harris was released to the Anjera tribe and taken to the village of Sheikh Duas .

On May 18, 1904, Raisulis had Ion Perdicaris and Cromwell Varley kidnapped. Raisuli's house in Zinat has meanwhile been expanded like a fortress. Under international pressure - there were French and Spanish warships in the Bay of Tangier - Abd al-Aziz Zinat attacked on January 5, 1907. The following night, Raisulis evacuated Zinat. On January 6, 1907 Zinat, under the guidance of Si Abderrahman ben Sedira, an Algerian Harki , shot at with guns stormed, looted and burned.
