Karl Friedrich Flögel

Karl Friedrich Flögel (born December 3, 1729 in Jauer , Duchy of Schweidnitz-Jauer , † March 7, 1788 in Liegnitz ) was a German cultural and literary historian.

Life

Flögel attended the Maria Magdalenen grammar school in Breslau from 1748–1752 . He then studied theology in Halle with Sigmund Jakob Baumgarten and philosophy with Christian Wolff . In 1761 he became a teacher at the Maria-Magdalenen-Gymnasium in Breslau, soon afterwards prorector and 1773 rector of the school in Jauer. In 1774 he was appointed professor of philosophy at the Knights' Academy in Liegnitz , where he stayed until his death in 1788. From 1772 he worked as an assessor at the Royal Society of Sciences in Frankfurt (Oder) .
