Choi Seou (until 2012 Choi Yong-jik ) (born December 3, 1982 in Gunsan ) is a South Korean ski jumper . Like all professional ski jumpers from South Korea, he works for the High1 Resort ski club .
Career
Choi jumps especially in the Continental Cup , where he in 2005 , a jump in Brotterode could win. On the Inselbergschanze there , he has since held the hill record with 123.5 meters. Altogether he got four podium finishes and in the overall standings of the 2004/05 season a 24th place as his best result.
Choi is less successful in the World Cup. He reached the points only four times: for the first time in 1999 on Bergisel , most recently in 2015 as 29th in Oslo . He achieved his best result so far in 2007 as 25th in Klingenthal . With the South Korean team, he was also eighth in Sapporo in 2002 .
Choi Seou participated in all Winter Olympic Games from 1998 to 2018 . He has taken part in the Winter Olympics six times so far. These were the games in 1998 in Nagano , 2002 in Salt Lake City , 2006 in Turin , 2010 in Vancouver , 2014 in Sochi and 2018 in Pyeongchang in his home country. He achieved his best results in individual as 34th in 2002 and 2014 on the normal hill and in team jumping as eighth in 2002.
Choi's most successful world championship was the 2005 World Championships in Oberstdorf , when he was 22nd in individual jumping and 10th in team jumping on the normal hill. He also managed a 29th place at the ski flying world championship of 2000 in Vikersund . At the 2003 Winter Universiades in Tarvisio, Italy and in Yabuli , China in 2009 , he won the gold medal in the team competition with the South Korean team. In 2007 he took second place in the student competitions in Pragelato on the normal hill and in the team competition. At the Winter Asian Games 2003 in Aomori , Japan , he was able to win the title with the South Korean team. In 2011 in Almaty , Kazakhstan , he was able to take third place with the team. The same happened six years later at the Winter Asian Games 2017 in Sapporo .
Personal
In addition to South Korean , Choi also speaks German . He went to high school and is a student at Korea National Sports University .
