overview

Season course

The 22nd season of the Ski Jumping Continental Cup was held - as usual since the 2003/04 season - with separate ratings for summer and winter. With the jumping of the men in Sochi , Tchaikovsky (both summer) and Nizhny Tagil (winter), jumping was held in Russia for the first time in the history of this competition series . While a total of 46 competitions were planned for the men in 22 locations, the women's Continental Cup was thinned out to eight competitions in four locations, of which the two competitions in Notodden also fell victim to the weather. In addition, one of the two competitions in Oberwiesenthal had to be canceled due to strong winds. Since a third competition was possible in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden , at least four of the six competitions could be carried out in winter. All fourteen competitions for the men could take place in the summer. By contrast, the winter competitions in Erzurum, Turkey, had to be canceled for organizational reasons. In Lahti it was not possible to jump due to strong winds, but one of the two jumps was made up in Iron Mountain .

After fourteen competitions, the men's summer ranking was won by the Czech Jan Matura , who won one competition each in Sochi and Kuopio and also jumped on the podium in Kranj , Lillehammer and Klingenthal . He was followed by Wolfgang Loitzl , who won the last five competitions in the summer ranking (once in Lillehammer, twice in Tschaikowsky and Klingenthal) and thus jumped back into the Austrian World Cup team, and Anders Jacobsen , who won in Kranj and Sotschi and placed second celebrated a successful return to ski jumping in Stams and Sotschi and was able to establish itself again in the World Cup during the season. The women’s ranking was won by the two Austrians Daniela Iraschko and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger , who took turns with victory and second place in the only two competitions in Lillehammer, Norway. Third place went to Anja Tepeš from Slovenia , who came in sixth and third in Lillehammer.

In winter, 19-year-old Slovene Anže Semenič won the men's overall ranking. He won a total of three individual competitions in Zakopane and Iron Mountain . He was followed by the Norwegian Fredrik Bjerkeengen (individual winner in Titisee-Neustadt and Iron Mountain) and Semenič's compatriot Matic Benedik , who could not win any jumping but took second place five times. With Nico Polychronidis , who finished 30th in Titisee-Neustadt on January 26th, a jumper starting for Greece was able to achieve a point for the overall standings for the first time. Polychronidis, son of a German and a Greek, competed for the German Ski Association until 2011 and on March 14, 2009 in Pragelato, he was third on the podium of a Continental Cup. In addition, points scored for the first time since the 2003/04 season with Lars Antonissen, who was 29th in Zakopane on January 5th, Oldrik van der Aalst, who finished 28th in Iron Mountain on February 9th, and Ruben de Wit, who finished on March 9th in Vikersund was also 28th, again three Dutch men. Boy van Baarle last succeeded in this on January 9, 2004 in Sapporo . For the first time in the nine-year history of the Women's Continental Cup, a Russian jumper won the women's winter ranking, Irina Avakumova . The basis of their success were the three victories in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden . In the squares followed Julia Kykkänen from Finland and the German Ramona Straub .
