Eduard Torok (born May 2, 1997 ) is a former Romanian ski jumper who last started for Hungary .
Career
Torok, who starts for the CSS Dinamo Râşnov , made his international debut in Oberstdorf as part of the Alpine Cup in October 2010 and started a little later in the FIS Cup . On February 6, 2011, he jumped into the points for the first time as 30th in Kranj . In the junior show jumping competition at the end of February in Baiersbronn , Germany, he finished tenth for the first time on a top place.
On December 18, 2011, Torok started in Erzurum in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . After he was only 54th in the first competition, he did not take part in the second competition. After further unsuccessful jumps in the FIS Cup, Torok returned to the Continental Cup in August 2012. In the second competition he just missed his first Continental Cup points as 32nd in Kuopio .
2013 Torok got a starting place for the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Brașov . In ski jumping on his home hill in Râşnov he reached the 16th place in the individual. In the team competition he finished fifth with his teammates Robert Valentin Tatu , Constantin Robert Buzescu Purice and Iulian Pîtea .
On December 28, 2013, Torok collected his first Continental Cup points at the Continental Cup in Engelberg . After he also jumped into the points in Sapporo , a few days later he got a starting place for the ski jumping world cup at the same place . After qualifying the day before, he jumped in the World Cup for the first time on January 26, 2014. As the 45th, he was eliminated after the first round and missed first World Cup points.
At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2014 in Val di Fiemme , he jumped 25th in the individual competition. Three weeks later, after a second place in the first competition, he won the second FIS Cup competition in Râşnov. After further Continental Cup starts and a 20th place in Zakopane , he got another nomination for a World Cup. In Planica , however, he already failed in qualifying.
In the summer of 2014 Torok took part in competitions for the Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2014 in Almaty and jumped into the points as 29th in the first competition. With the two points won, he was 77th overall. At the Romanian Ski Jumping Championships in 2014 in Râşnov, Torok won the individual competition on the normal hill and, together with Radu Păcurar and Iulian Pîtea, the team competition on the small hill . In the mixed team competition, he and the team just barely missed another medal and ended up fourth.
In the 2014/15 season , Torok started again in the Continental Cup. For the World Cup jumping in Engelberg he again received a place in the qualification, but failed this time before the competition.
After Eduard Török and his teammate Iulian Pâtea learned in Garmisch-Partenkirchen that they were admitted to the Four Hills Tournament by the FRSB (Federația Româna de Schi Biatlon) - in whose opinion the performance of the two athletes are not sufficient - in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , Török, who is studying in England, decides to quit competitive sport and blames the FRSB for the weak ski jumping sport.
After disputes with the Romanian Ski Association and the resulting career break, Torok switched to the Hungarian Ski Association for the 2018/19 season. Under the guidance of Vasja Bajc , he resumed training to become competitive again. Although Torok reached the points in the Continental Cup again in the summer of 2019 , he finally ended his career in November 2019 due to a lack of help from the Hungarian Ski Association.
