Vasja Bajc (born January 19, 1962 in Ljubljana ) is a former Yugoslav ski jumper and today's Slovenian ski jumping coach.

Career

Bajc made his debut in the newly created Ski Jumping World Cup on December 30, 1979 . However , he completed the Four Hills Tournament 1979/80 unsuccessfully. Only after the tour was he able to jump into the points for the first time in Planica with 5th place. With 5th place, he also achieved his highest individual placement in a World Cup competition. The Four Hills Tournament 1981/82 was unsuccessful for Bajc. at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1982 in Oslo , Bajc jumped to 42nd place on the normal hill. After the Four Hills Tournament 1983/84 went rather badly for Bajc, he was able to jump back into the top ten for the first time on January 14, 1984 with 9th place in Harrachov .

At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , Bajc jumped to 15th place on the normal hill and 17th place on the large hill. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1984 , which took place at the same time as the Olympic Games in Engelberg , he achieved 5th place in the team competition together with Miran Tepeš , Tomaž Dolar and Primož Ulaga .

After Bajc started again in the Four Hills Tournament 1987/88 and again failed to achieve success in the jumping competitions in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen , he ended his active ski jumping career.

From 1990 Bajc was national coach in Spain , in 1994 he moved to Japan . During his engagement, which lasted until 2002, he was able to win the Nations Cup of the World Cup three times with the Japanese team. Bajc coached the Netherlands in the 2002/03 season and coached Sweden the following year . From 2004 to 2006 he was the head coach of the Czech national team and led Jakub Janda to the overall World Cup victory. For the 2006/07 season Bajc looked after the Slovenian national team, before he resigned due to internal disputes on January 26, 2007 and was replaced by Ari-Pekka Nikkola . From the 2007/08 season he was the coach of the Turkish national team, which was then being set up. As an exercise bike, he also looked after several professional and junior jumpers, including Jakub Janda. From 2014 to 2017 he was the head coach of the United States ' national women's ski jumping team . Since 2017 he has been in charge of Flórián Molnár and Virág Vörös in the Hungarian national team.
