Chedal made his first jump at the age of seven, jumping for the Courchevel ski club . He made his World Cup debut in Chamonix in 1998 . His best result in the World Cup was a 3rd place on December 6th, 2009 on Lysgårdsbakken in Lillehammer (HS 138). His greatest success at a major international event came in ninth at the 2010 Nordic Tournament . At the 2009 French Ski Jumping Championships in Chaux-Neuve , Chedal won the gold medal in the individual competition and the silver medal in the team competition.
At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver , he reached 13th place in jumping on the large hill and 24th place on the normal hill. After he had already failed in the qualification at the beginning of the 2012/13 World Cup season at the competitions in Lillehammer , Kuusamo and Engelberg with places over 50, he announced on the French sports website www.lequipe.fr at the beginning of January 2013 that he was his Career ended. He justified the move by stating that he could no longer maintain his previous level and that he also had problems with the new regulations.
