Lanišek, who starts for SSK Mengeš , made his international debut after a seventh place with the team at the 2010 Slovenian Championships in children's and youth competitions in Eisenerz in March 2010. After a third place in the individual and a second place in the team competition, he started from July 2010 in the FIS Cup and from September 2010 in the Ski Jumping Alpine Cup . After a year and rather mediocre results, he made his debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in July 2011 . In Kranj he already achieved points in his second competition in this series with 30th place. After further jumping in the Alpine Cup, he was nominated for the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck at the end of 2011 . In addition to the gold medal in the individual on the normal hill, he also won the silver medal in the team competition with the mixed team. A week after the games, Lanišek surprised with a fifth place in the Continental Cup competition in Bischofshofen . In the second competition on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze he celebrated his first victory in the Continental Cup. Despite this success, he continued to jump in the Alpine and FIS Cups and without exception on the podium. Lanišek was able to win two competitions on the Bauhenk in Kranj .

In the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2012 in Turkey's Erzurum he missed with the team barely reached the podium and at the end of fourth place. In the individual jumping he landed on the 9th place. After two victories in Chaux-Neuve in the context of the Alpine Cup, he started again in the Continental Cup in Kuopio in March 2012 . He jumped straight back to fourth place. After his performance slump in Kranj in July 2012 with 47th place, he came back to the Alpencup squad. Since January 19, 2013 in Bischofshofen, Lanišek starts again in the Continental Cup.

At the Slovenian Ski Jumping Championships in 2013 Lanišek reached 12th place in the individual. Since his club did not field a team, he could not compete in the team competition. At the European Youth Olympic Festival 2013 , whose jumping competitions were held in Râşnov , Romania , he won the gold medal with the Slovenian team, which also included Nejc Seretinek , Cene Prevc and Florjan Jelovčan . With the mixed team, which also included Anja Javoršek and Julija Sršen in addition to Prevc , he won the silver medal behind the German team and in the individual competition behind Cene Prevc.

At the Junior World Championships 2014 in Predazzo , Italy , he finished twelfth in the individual competition and was sixth with the Slovenian team. At the start of the 2014/15 season in Klingenthal on November 23, 2014, Lanišek jumped to 21st place and thus received his first World Cup points. At the Junior World Championships 2015 in Almaty , Kazakhstan , he was able to improve by one place in both competitions compared to the previous year and thus finished eleventh in the individual competition and fifth with the team.

On December 13, 2015, he achieved his best World Cup placement to date with fourth place in Nizhny Tagil, Russia . In January 2016 he was nominated for the Ski Flying World Championship in Bad Mitterndorf , Austria , where he came twelfth in the individual and fourth with the Slovenian team. At the end of his junior career, he finished 16th in the individual at the 2016 Junior World Championships in Râșnov and, as in the previous year, was fifth in the team competition with the Slovenian team. At the 2017 World Championships in Lahti , Finland , he was only 36th in the individual jumping on the large hill, but with the Slovenian teams in the team competitions he only narrowly missed the medal ranks as fourth in the mixed competition and fifth with the men's team.

On August 27, 2017, he was able to achieve a top-level podium finish for the first time in third at the Grand Prix jumping in Hakuba, Japan . After he won the two following competitions on the Sneschinka in Tchaikovsky , Russia , he finished the Grand Prix season in second place overall.
