The Ski Jumping World Cup 2015/16 was a series of competitions in ski jumping organized by the World Ski Association FIS . The men's World Cup was held from November 21, 2015 to March 20, 2016 and comprised 29 individual and 6 team competitions, 27 of which were held in Europe and 8 in Asia . Five individual and one team competitions were canceled or broken off due to the weather. The women's World Cup was held from December 4, 2015 to February 28, 2016 and consisted of 17 individual competitions, 11 of which were held in Europe and 8 in Asia. The last two competitions, scheduled for March 5th and 6th, 2016, had to be canceled due to lack of snow. The defending champion in the overall world cup for men was Severin Freund , in the ski flying world cup Peter Prevc and in the nations ranking Germany . The defending champion in the women's category was Daniela Iraschko-Stolz and the team from Austria in the national ranking .

Men's

In April 2015 the FIS announced the World Cup calendar. As in the previous year , Titisee-Neustadt was the venue again after other locations had to cancel again for financial or organizational reasons.

After he was very narrowly inferior to Severin Freund in the previous year , Peter Prevc was able to win the overall World Cup as the second Slovenian after Primož Peterka ( 1996/97 , 1997/98 ) and relegate Freund to second place. He dominated the season and achieved 15 wins, which he surpassed Gregor Schlierenzauer's previous record from the 2008/09 season (13 wins). He also improved Schlierenzauer's point record of 2083 points significantly with 2303 points.

Third in the overall standings was newcomer Kenneth Gangnes , who, however, was never to compete in a World Cup competition again after the end of the season due to several injuries. His compatriots Johann André Forfang and Daniel-André Tande also made it to the top of the world by finishing fifth and seventh in the World Cup this season.

Career ends

After the season:

Ladies

Sara Takanashi dominated the season almost at will; she won 14 of 17 competitions and thus the overall World Cup for the third time. Defending champion Daniela Iraschko-Stolz and the Slovenian Maja Vtič were the only two jumpers who could also win a competition and were second and third behind Takanashi.

The German team around Olympic and world champion Carina Vogt could not achieve a single podium.
