He celebrated his first Continental Cup victory on June 30, 2012 at the summer jumping event on the Brunnentalschanze in Stams .

In February 2013 Boyd-Clowes was injured in Willingen during a show jumping on a mini-hill that some jumpers organized due to the canceled World Cup jumping. He fell on landing and suffered a broken collarbone, abrasions on his face and minor bruises. He then had to end the 2012/13 season early.
