The Miyanomori ski jump ( Japanese の 森 シ ャ ン ツ ェ , Miyanomori-shantse ), also known as the Miyanomori ski jumping stadium (Japanese 宮 の 森 ジ ャ ン プ 競技場 , Miyanomori jampu kyōgijō ), is a ski jumping hill on the Japanese town of Sokappkaid on the island of Hokappkaid . Both the women's ski jumping World Cup and the Continental Cup regularly stop here. Ski jumping competitions from the 1972 Winter Olympics and the 2007 Nordic World Ski Championships were also held here.
investment
The ski jump owned by the city of Sapporo is located in the upper Kotoni Valley in the Miyanomori district, about four and a half kilometers southwest of the city center in the Chūō-ku district . It is covered with mats and can be jumped all year round. The hill size is 100 m, the construction point 90 m at an angle of inclination of 36 °, the take-off table is inclined by 10.5 °. The men's hill record is currently held by the German Eric Frenzel , who achieved a distance of 106.0 m at the Nordic Combined World Cup on March 2nd, 2007 . The longest jump by a woman was achieved by the Japanese Sara Takanashi with 103.0 m on January 11, 2014.
About 1.5 km further north is the Ōkurayama ski jump in the Kotoni valley .
history
Before the 1972 Winter Olympics , there were initially considerations to expand the Snowbrand ski jump next to the Ōkurayama ski jump. Because of the limited space, however, the decision was made to build the Miyanomori ski jump. They were designed by Pacific Consultant Co. and the Tanoue architectural firm. Construction began in October 1968, and was completed in November 1970, the construction costs amounted to 377 million yen (equivalent to 3.464 million euros in September 2018).
Before the FIS more or less abolished competitions on normal hills towards the end of the 1990s, World Cup events for men took place on the Miyanomori hill over a period of almost 20 years . Today the Continental Cup still occasionally stops in Sapporo. This hill was used again at the 2007 World Championships . Since 2013 the hill has been one of the venues for the women's World Cup.
