Vogt 2016 in Hinzenbach

Carina Vogt (born February 5, 1992 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German ski jumper . At the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014 , she became the Olympic champion in the first ever Olympic women's ski jumping event. In 2015 and 2017 she was double world champion at the world championships in Falun and Lahti . In 2019 she and the team became world champion in the first-ever all-women team competition.

Career

Vogt came into contact with ski jumping at the age of six when the Degenfeld ski club organized a summer camp. She did her first jumps on smaller hills with alpine skis and was enthusiastic about the sport. Until she was 13 she was active in gymnastics, athletics and horse riding. After that, she concentrated entirely on ski jumping. She attended the ski school in Furtwangen .

In 2004 she had international competition at the FIS race in Meinerzhagen and was 45. Since 2006 she has been taking part in the competitions of the Continental Cup . On her first appearance in Klingenthal , she missed the final by one place in 31st place. But already in her next competition, 2007 in Villach , she achieved a single-digit result for the first time as seventh place. As fourth, she just missed a medal at the 2007 Junior World Championships in Tarvisio . At the German Championships in Oberhof in 2008 , she won the silver medal in team jumping with Svenja Würth as Baden-Württemberg II . In the 2007/08 season she came on the podium for the first time in February in the Continental Cup in Baiersbronn with third place. In the overall standings of the season she was 18th. At the German Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2009 , Vogt again won the silver medal in second behind Ulrike Gräßler . In the season 2009/10 she celebrated her first victory on January 2nd, 2010 as part of the FIS Ladies Winter Tour on the Großer Ruhesteinschanze in Baiersbronn. This was followed by a second place in Schonach and six other top ten results. At the 2010 Junior World Championships in Hinterzarten , she finished fifth. The 2010/11 season was mixed. She could not build on the good performance of the previous season and finished 31st overall with 154 points. At the Junior World Championships 2011 in Otepää she reached eighth place on the normal hill. At the beginning of the 2011/12 season, she started in the Continental Cup in December 2011, before she made her debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup in Hinterzarten on January 7, 2012 . With 35th place she missed the second round. A day later she won her first World Cup point with 30th place. At the World Cup in Hinzenbach , she jumped to 6th and 13th place; these were her two best results of the season. At her fourth and last Junior World Championships in Erzurum in 2012 , she won the bronze medal in the individual and the silver medal in the team. At the German Championships 2012 in Hinterzarten, she jumped to fifth place. In the summer of 2012 she won the individual Grand Prix in Hinterzarten and took third place in the team.

The 2012/13 season began in Lillehammer with two fourth places in the team and individual. Several top ten results followed, including a third place finish in Yamagata . She finished seventh in the overall ranking. At the 2013 World Championships in Val di Fiemme , Vogt was fifth in the individual. At the mixed team competition held there for the first time, she won the bronze medal alongside Ulrike Gräßler , Richard Freitag and Severin Freund behind Japan and Austria. In the 2013/14 season she finished eight times in second or third place up to the Olympic Games in world cup competitions. At the 2014 Olympic women's ski jumping competition in Sochi , Vogt became the first female Olympic champion in the history of this competition. For this she received the Silver Laurel Leaf from Federal President Gauck on May 8, 2014 . After her Olympic victory she could only start at the World Cup in Falun ; then she had to end the season due to knee problems and an operation. She won the bronze medal at the 2014 German Championships in Hinterzarten.

In the 2014/15 World Cup season she won her first World Cup victory on the Zaō hill in Japan, which was followed by another in Hinzenbach ; she also came second four times. In the overall World Cup, she finished third with 672 points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2015 , she became the first world champion in the individual jumping on the normal hill on February 20, 2015. Two days later she also won the world championship title in the mixed competition together with Richard Freitag , Katharina Althaus and Severin Freund . In August 22, 2015 she was fifth at the German Championships in Oberstdorf .

In February 2017, Vogt won the gold medals in the individual and mixed team competition at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti, as before in 2015 (together with Svenja Würth , Andreas Wellinger and Markus Eisenbichler ). A year later she reached fifth place in the individual competition at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang .

On January 19, 2019, Vogt, together with Juliane Seyfarth , Ramona Straub and Katharina Althaus, achieved the first World Cup victory in the team competition on the Zaō-Schanze in Yamagata . On February 9, 2019, she also won the second team competition of the World Cup season on the Logarska dolina in Ljubno, Slovenia, together with Anna Rupprecht , Juliane Seyfarth and Katharina Althaus. The German team was able to confirm these two successes at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld in 2019 , so that Vogt, together with Juliane Seyfarth, Ramona Straub and Katharina Althaus, won the gold medal in the team competition that was held for the first time. In the individual competition, she took tenth place as defending champion.

At the beginning of July 2019, Carina Vogt tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee in a training fall , which meant she was out for the entire 2019/20 season .

Private

Vogt lives in Waldstetten and starts for SC Degenfeld . After graduating from high school in 2011, she was employed by the federal police as a police officer candidate. After four years of training, she became a police chief. On March 1, 2015, a street below the ski jumping facility in Degenfeld was named Carina-Vogt-Weg .
