List of world champions in ski jumping
The list of world champions in ski jumping lists all world champions as well as the second and third placed in individual and team competitions in ski jumping at Nordic World Ski Championships . The results from the 1st Nordic World Ski Championships in 1924 (equivalent to the 1st Olympic Winter Games) to the 51st Nordic World Ski Championships in 2017 were taken into account . From 1924 to 1984 , the competitions at the Winter Olympics also counted as world championships.
Competitions for men
Individual competitions
The world champions in ski jumping have been determined at the Nordic World Ski Championships since 1924. Up until the 1984 Winter Olympics , the Olympic champions were also world champions. The Olympic Winter Games up to 1984 are therefore also considered the Nordic World Ski Championships and are therefore on this list. The Nordic World Ski Championships in 1941 have no official status, since the results were canceled by the FIS in 1946 .
The world championships have been held on the large hill since 1924 and also on the normal hill since 1962 .
Team competitions
Team competitions in ski jumping have been held at the Nordic World Ski Championships since 1982 . Before that, an unofficial team competition took place at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1978 . Since the team competition was not included in the Olympic program of the 1984 Winter Olympics , the team competitions in Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping were also held at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1984 .
The team competitions are mainly held on the large hill. At the World Championships in 2001, 2005 and 2011, team competitions were also held on the normal hill.
Competitions for women
At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec , a women's competition was held on the normal hill for the first time.
