Sigmund Ruud (born December 30, 1907 in Kongsberg ; † April 7, 1994 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian ski jumper and alpine ski racer .

At the 1928 Olympic Games in St. Moritz , he won the silver medal in ski jumping behind his compatriot Alf Andersen . A year later he was able to win the title at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Zakopane . His defense he missed a year later when he finished third in Oslo. At his last World Cup participation in 1931 , he placed sixth in Oberhof . In 1936 he took part in the 1936 Winter Olympics as an alpine skier, but retired in the alpine combination. In 1949, like his younger brothers Birger and Asbjørn Ruud, he was honored with the Holmenkollen Medal .

The Sigmund Ruuds vei (German: Sigmund-Ruud-Weg) is named after him in Kongsberg .
