Juhani Tapio Antero Kärkinen (born October 28, 1935 in Kotka ; † August 29, 2019 ) was a Finnish ski jumper . He jumped for Lahden Hiihtoseura , the Lahti City Association .

Career

Kärkinen won the gold medal at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1958 in his hometown of Lahti , and came eighth at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley . At the Four Hills Tournament in 1960/61 he won the opening competition in Oberstdorf and was ultimately fifth in the overall ranking. Besides winning the gold medal in 1958, the victory in Oberstdorf was his only victory in an international competition.

Kärkinen was Finnish champion in 1958, 1959 and 1961.
