Franci Petek (born June 15, 1971 in Lesce ) is a former Slovenian ski jumper .

Career

At the Junior World Championship in 1989 in Vang , which was also his first international tournament, he achieved second place with the Yugoslav team and thus the silver medal. On December 28, 1989, he made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup in Oberstdorf . On February 11, 1990, he won his first and only World Cup competition in Engelberg . At the ski flying world championship in 1990 in Vikersund Petek flew to 22nd place. In the same year he won bronze with the team at the Junior World Championship in Štrbské Pleso . In 1991 he won the gold medal on the large hill at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Predazzo, Italy . At the Four Hills Tournament in 1991/92 he achieved 4th place, the best result in the overall ranking of his career. At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , Petek jumped from the normal hill to 21st and from the large hill to 8th place. With his teammates Samo Gostiša , Matjaž Zupan and Primož Kopač , he finished sixth in the team competition. Two years later he jumped again at the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer and came from the large hill to 38th place.

After the 1994/95 season, he ended his active ski jumping career.
