Primož Kopač (born November 25, 1970 in Žiri ) is a former Slovenian ski jumper .

Career

Kopač began his international career at the Four Hills Tournament in 1988/89 , where he also competed in the ski jumping World Cup for the first time on December 30, 1988 in Oberstdorf . With only a 42nd place and rather mediocre results in the other competitions of the tour, he could not place in the overall ranking. At the Junior World Championships in 1989 in Vang , Norway , he won the silver medal together with his Yugoslav teammates Goran Janus , Marjan Kropar and Franci Petek . On December 3, 1989, he achieved the best result of his career in Thunder Bay with 25th place in the World Cup.

At the Four Hills Tournament in 1989/90 he managed to achieve 84th place in the overall ranking after several placements in midfield. He only competed in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen and did not get beyond 63rd place. In the following season 1991/92 he did not win any points in the World Cup.

Surprisingly, he was part of the team at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . In the team competition he reached sixth place together with Samo Gostiša , Franci Petek and Matjaž Zupan . In the individual jumping on the normal hill, he finished 26th as the worst of his team and therefore received no nomination for jumping on the large hill. Damjan Fras , then 18 years old, was nominated for him . At the end of the season he jumped again in the World Cup in Planica , but again missed a top position.

In the 1992/93 season he only competed in jumping in Planica. However, he could not achieve more than a 48th place. In the 1993/94 season he did not enter any competitions in the World Cup before he jumped in December 1994 in Planica with the 31st place just past the newly introduced points to 30th place. Despite this result, Kopač ended his active ski jumping career after this jumping at the age of only 24.
